Is it possible to use a vented mini instantaneous water heater instead of a five-litre under-sink tank?
Yes, if you use a tap with an M22/24 thread outlet, so the jet regulator of the instantaneous water heater can be screwed on to it.
What does ‘any position’ mean in the case of instantaneous water heaters?
It means that the units can be installed with the water connection either on top or underneath.
With a low-pressure fitting can the third connecting hose be ‘blanked off’ so that a closed outlet connection can be made?
No. A low-pressure fitting must always be installed with an open outlet, in other words, ‘unpressurized’.
When does the electricity supplier require to be approved?
Only if you are connecting up an electric instantaneous water heater with a power rating of 18 kW or higher.
In the case of a water heater rated ‘21 kW - 400 V 3~ 30 A fixed connection’ does each phase have to have a 30 A fuse?
Yes. Each phase must have individual fuse protection.
When is a relief valve needed with a tank installation?
Whenever you install an unvented tank supplying more than one tap.
